Day-by-Day Itinerary
Addis Ababa – Mekelle – Dodom (Erta Ale Volcano)
Arrival in Addis Ababa, connect to flight to Mekelle. Drive to Dodom & trek to Erta Ale Volcano (camels carry supplies). Overnight camping at the volcano rim, watching the glowing lava lake.
Erta Ale – Hamad Ela
Sunrise over the crater. Descend to Dodom, continue to Hamad Ela village. Overnight camping in Hamad Ela.
Hamad Ela – Dallol – Mekelle – Addis Ababa
Visit salt mining fields at Ragad (Asebo). See camel caravans transporting salt. Explore Dallol’s colorful hydrothermal formations & Lake Assal. Return to Mekelle, evening flight to Addis Ababa. Overnight hotel stay.
Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar (Lake Tana)
Morning flight to Bahir Dar. Boat trip to Ura Kidane Mihret Monastery on Lake Tana. Afternoon excursion to Blue Nile Falls. Overnight in Bahir Dar.
