Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival – Addis Ababa City Tour
Welcome and transfer to hotel. Drive to Mount Entoto for panoramic city views. Visit the National Museum (home of “Lucy”), Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Ethnographic Museum (former palace of Haile Selassie). Explore Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market. Overnight in Addis Ababa.
Addis – Bahir Dar (via Debre Libanos & Blue Nile Gorge)
Drive north, stopping at Debre Libanos Monastery (13th century) with its museum and historic treasures. Scenic Blue Nile Gorge. Lake Zengena stop before reaching Bahir Dar. Overnight in Bahir Dar.
Bahir Dar (Lake Tana & Blue Nile Falls)
Boat cruise on Lake Tana, visiting Ura Kidane Mihret Monastery (14th century). Afternoon excursion to the Blue Nile Falls (water flow may vary with season). Overnight in Bahir Dar.
Bahir Dar – Gondar (Castles & Churches)

Gondar – Excursion to Simien Mountains

Gondar – Axum (via Debarq)

Axum – Mekele (via Yeha & Tigray Churches)
Drive to Mekele, visiting Yeha Temple (5th century BC, Ethiopia’s oldest structure) and rock-hewn churches of Tigray: Abreha we Atsbeha, Wukro Cherkos, Medhane Alem Adi Kesho. Overnight in Mekele.
Mekele – Alamata – Lalibela
Drive south to Lalibela with stops at Alamata market (blend of Wello & Tigray cultures) and scenic Wollo highlands. Overnight in Lalibela.
Lalibela
Explore Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches, including Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Mariam, Bete Golgotha, Bete Giorgis. Overnight in Lalibela.
Excursion to Yimrehane Kristos & More Churches
Morning: Yimrehane Kristos Cave Church, a masterpiece of Axumite design. Afternoon: Visit remaining Lalibela churches – Bete Gabriel, Bete Marqorios, Bete Emmanuel, Bete Aba Libanos. Overnight in Lalibela.
Lalibela – Kombolcha (via Dessie & Hayq Lake)

Kombolcha – Awash National Park

Awash – Dire Dawa – Harar

Excursion to Babile Camel Market & Valley of Marvels
Visit Babile Camel Market (only Mondays & Thursdays) – Ethiopia’s largest. Explore the Valley of Marvels with its unusual rock formations. Continue sightseeing in Harar, including the Tomb of Emir Nur. Overnight in Harar.
Harar – Dire Dawa – Fly Addis – Departure
